Class of 2009

CLASS OF 2009

RiceTyler Spurlin – The Woodlands High School 2009
Rice University
A great kid. This kid will definitely do some damage. He can beat you with his arm or with his bat. Tyler will play college baseball and have a chance at the professional level. If he stays healthy he could throw mid 90’s

La Tech Sam Landis – Klein HS 2009
Louisiana Tech University
All-Greater Houston selection in 2008, Landis is smooth as silk at 3rd base.  One of the top, if not the top, 3rd baseman in the State of Texas hands down.  Has an above average arm with soft hands.  Has as much potential as anyone in this class to take his game to the next level.  Sam Landis is a baseball player that plays the game hard and is athletic enough to play multiple positions.  Swings the bat for average and power as well.  Will be playing at the next level.

Nichols StateAndrew Olson – Spring Woods HS 2009
Nicholls State University
A fierce competitor with electric stuff.  Andrew has what it takes to become one of the elite pitchers in Houston this year.  Throws in the mid to high 80’s and is very durable.  He can just flat out pitch and carves up any lineup he faces.  He has the ability to play any position on the field and can also swing the stick.  Spring Woods will be looking at Andrew to lead the pack this year.  Has the tools to pitch at the next level.

La TechTyler Boss  – Klein HS 2009
Louisiana Tech University
All-Greater Houston Selection in 2008, Tyler is one of the best athletes in this class.  A two-sport athlete that has a chance to play on the diamond and the gridiron.  Has above average speed with one of the best bodies in Select baseball to date.  Plus arm strength and hits for power from the right side.  Tyler will be an impact player at the next level. Working very hard this summer to improve his game.

lon morris lon morrisJacob Gregory – Huntsville HS 2009
Lon Morris College
A flat out gamer that will be an impact player for Huntsville HS this year.  Looking for big things from Jacob.  Above average speed which allows him to cover a lot of ground in the outfield.  Gap to gap power at the plate and a great mental makeup.

hill James Black – Klein Collins HS 2009
Hill College
When you think about James, you think about his glove.  Very nice hands with the ability to play every infield position.  Quick release and good footwork.  Hitting over .400 this summer and ready to make an impact for the Klein Collins starting lineup next year.  Once he figures out his stroke, he has the chance to play at the next level.  Average speed that fills his body well.

hillJosh Rodriguez – Sinton HS 2009
Hill College
Doesn’t get the credit that he deserves.  Power pitcher that throws in the high 80’s with a nasty slider.  Goes after hitters and is not afraid to pitch inside.  Josh also swings a big stick and with one swing of the bat, can change a game in a hurry.  Work ethic is the question here.  It is all going to come down to how bad he wants it and if he works hard.  Has the tools to play at the next level but it is all up to him.

hill Patrick Stanley – Klein HS 2009
Hill College
Another Klein HS pitcher that will take on a bigger role this year.  Could be the #2 behind Purke in this rotation if the work ethic is there.  Has a chance to step up and make things happen this year.  Also a solid 2nd baseman with a lot of upside.

hill Gabriel Garcia – Sinton HS 2009
Hill College
When you look at Gabe behind the plate, he is not your typical big size receiver that you are used to seeing.  Wait until you see him throw the ball down to 2ndbase and you will know why he is there.  One of the quickest releases that you will see from any catcher on any high school team in the State of Texas.  A good contact hitter that will play at the next level.

cisco Davis Henderson – Klein Collins 2009
Cisco Junior College
Davis has the potential to be one of the best pitchers in this class.  Throws in the mid to high 80’s and is improving.  You can use Davis in any pitching role, starter or a closer and he will do the job.  Has electric stuff. Will definitely be pitching at the next level.  A D1 prospect.

Texas Southern Darren Hooks – Elkins HS 2009
Texas Southern University
Flash Gordon!  1st team All District selection for Elkins HS in 2008.  Runs a 6.6 – 60 yard dash and has above average hands for an infielder.  Balls jumps off his bat with the best of them.  Very strong kid with excellent power for his size.  A definite college prospect.

hill Sean O’Sullivan – Klein Collins HS 2009
Hill College
Sean has tremendous upside.  A flashy middle infielder and possesses an above average arm.  Great hands and footwork.  He will be a sleeper in this class and has the ability to do some special things this year.  Plays the game hard and is willing to do whatever it takes to win.  Can also be used as a short relief guy on the mound.

etbu Kody Jenkins – Humble HS 2009
East Texas Baptist University
Definite catchers body.  Has the ability to block balls with the best of them.  Clutch hitter that looks forward to making things happen.  Tremendous work ethic that will pay off in the end if it continues.

nctc Adam Kirsch – Spring High School 2009
North Central Texas College
This kid can flat out hit. Adam will hit .500 in high school. He will go to college and play baseball. A big strong kid that loves to work. May have a chance to play professional baseball.e

cisco Brent McMinn – Klein Oak HS 2009
Cisco Junior College
I’m very surprised this kid isn’t playing D1 somewhere.  We will help Brent play at the next level for sure. Don’t sleep on Brent. He was Klein Oak’s hottest hitter throughout his high school career. This kid runs and plays defense well. He definitely has bat speed and will be a big asset to some major university soon.

sul ross Rueben Sierra – Baytown Lee HS 2009
Sul Ross State University
Where do we start? This kid works his butt off. Getting the opportunity to play college baseball at Ranger Junior College on a scholarship. His fastball has touched up to 87 MPH and will continue to improve as hard of a worker as he is.

ranger Chase Barnett – Klein Oak HS 2010
Ranger College
Barnett is a big righty that throws from a three-quarter slot. He has tremendous upside.

ranger Garrett Patterson – Klein Oak HS 2010
Ranger College
This kid has a lot of ability to play at the next level. Look for Garrett to get his chance to play at Ranger.
